A native of Ireland, Eamonn Hughes has been designing and constructing water features in Europe and the United States for over 38 years. Since moving to Oregon in 1987, he has built hundreds of water gardens in the Pacific Northwest both in the commercial and residential areas. His work has been published in many national magazines and he has written and coauthored a number of books on water gardening. He is a sought after speaker nationally delivering keynote addresses to conferences for the water gardening industry.
Hughes Water Gardens located in Tualatin, Oregon was established in 1987 by Eamonn Hughes. The facility is nestled in a peaceful country setting just south of Portland and includes retail and wholesale nursery operations, several enchanting display water gardens and a large nursery. A large inventory is available of pond plants and water feature supplies for contractors and the retail public.
Eamonn received “The Retailer of the Year” award by the Oregon Association of Nurseries for his development of this garden center. He was also awarded an honorary lifetime membership in the Oregon Landscaper Contractors Association for his contributions to the industry. He has served on the Firestone Rubber Company Advisory Council determining technical and installation protocol for pond lining systems. He has served as a Board member of Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland Oregon.
